Using the 'oncheck' utility to check the consistency of data and index pages for a table.
During this training we demonstrate how to use the 'oncheck' command line utility to to ensure that the data and index pages for a table are consistent. Any inconsistencies found must be repaired either via the mechanisms offered by the oncheck utility or via a manual process.
Course Outcome:
Inconsistent data and index pages for a table will almost certainly mean that access to the table data will be not be optimal. An experienced DBA will be keeping a close watch on the performance of the corporate database and will proactively be running scripts to monitor performance. The oncheck command used in conjunction with the parameters shown in this video will provide your DBA with the information they require to ensure all table data and index data are consistent.
