Managing Actian X Installations and Databases (self-paced)
This course provides insight into all aspects of planning, installation, configuration, and day to day running of the Actian X installation. It also covers all aspects of database administration including: managing database objects such as tables, indexes, applications etc.; data integrity; security; backup and recovery; table maintenance and optimization.
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- Build, reconfigure and monitor your Actian X installation
- Be aware of the vital tasks that need to be performed to ensure the efficient running of the installation
- Understand the roles within Actian X
- Use the DBA tools
- Understand the major tasks that need to be performed to ensure the efficient running of your Actian X databases
Course Style
This course is aimed at delegates who will be responsible for managing an Actian X database and installation under Linux, UNIX, VMS, or Windows.
It covers all aspects of planning, installation, configuration, and day to day running of the Actian X installation. It also covers all aspects of database administration including: managing database objects such as tables, indexes, applications etc.; data integrity; security; backup and recovery; table maintenance and optimization.
The course employs lectures, demonstrations and practicals to reinforce the course contents. The course does not focus on a particular operating system but uses examples for the Linux, Unix, Windows and VMS operating systems throughout the course material.

This course is for Database and System Administrators who are responsible for the maintenance of Actian X databases.
